| Hubble Telescope |
Since it's 1990 launch, Hubble has changed our fundamental understanding of the universe.
The Hubble space telescope was the first astronomical Observatory to be placed into orbit around earth with the ability to record images in wavelength of light spanning from ultrra our to near infrared.
Launched on April 24, 1990, aboard the space shuttle Discovery, Hubble space telescope is currently located about 547Km above the earth's surface, where it completes 15 orbit per day
The satellite moves at the speed of about 8 Km per second, fast enough to travel across the USA in about 10 minutes.
The Hubble photo is of a small portion of one of the large seen star birth region in the galaxy, the carina nebula. Towers of cool hydrogen laced with dust rise from the wall of the nebula. The pillar is also being pushed apart from within, as infant stars buried inside it fire off jets of gas that can be seen streaming from towering peaks.
